We are hosting our first Shooting Stars Basketball Camp in the borough in the Easter break from 13th to 16th April 2010 at Sydney Russell Leisure Centre for those aged between 7 and 12 years old. The camp is first and foremost geared at creating a safe and secure environment for kids to enjoy themselves with their peers. Following this there are a number of benifits including: confidence boosting, increased health, balance and coordination skills, social interaction and much more. Our fundraising activity, the sponsored dribble-a-thon that was planned for December 21st 2009 was cancelled due to health and safety risks of the weather and ice. This is a notice inform you that the new date has been set for February 15th 2010, when we hope the weather would have calmed down and we can have fun dribbling our basketballs from Sydney Russell School to Barking Park where we will play and practice.

The reason for fundraising is that the basketball club is a voluntary organisation that relies upon fees, sponsorship and fundraising activities such as the dribble-a-thon. In November our biggest sponsor pulled out for their own financial reasons, for this reason it is vital that we make fundraisers like this a success to keep the young people playing now and in the future.
